What are evidence that would tell you that plant is alive

Problem

A) Look around your garden for any plants around. Any plant would do. You can even use wayside plants (sometimes called weeds) for this activity.

B) Take note of the common name (and scientific name if available) of the plant you are going to examine.

C) Examine the form, the shape, and the rest of the external structures of the plant. If you can uproot one, the better it is so you examine even the roots.

D) List down the parts and organs (e.g. leaves and fruits) you can see and identify tissues (e.g. epidermal and ground). Group structures that belong to the same level of organization. In doing so, please take note of the following guide questions:

a) Are there smaller structures or components of these organs?
b) Are the organs you identified to form a higher level of organization?
c) How would this plant be a part of the ecosphere?

E) From this information, construct a diagram of the level of organizations found in your plant. Make use of the following guide questions:

a) What is the lowest level of organization can you visibly see in this plant?

b) As you reach the "organism" level of organization, what characteristics of living organisms does your plant show?

c) What are evidence that would tell you that the plant is alive?
