What approach your would take to address problem behavior

Problem: Gabriella does not enjoy reading. For her 4th grade project, she needs to read a book to present to the class. As her older sibling, you attempt to sit and read with her, but she continually pushes the book away and refuses to read or even pay attention. Discuss 2 different potential approaches to decrease this problem behavior. Choose from any of the following approaches: Extinction, DRA, DRI, DRO, DRL, Exclusionary Time-Out, Non-Exclusionary Time-Out, Application of Aversive Stimulation, Overcorrection (Positive Practice or Restitution), Contingent Exercise, Guided Compliance, or Physical Restraint (Response Blocking). Be sure to discuss:

1. Before developing a plan, explain one functional assessment technique you would use to gain more insight on why this behavior is occurring and specifically, what you would hope to learn.

2. What is one approach your would take to address this problem behavior? Why did you choose this approach? How would you implement it? What would you expect to happen?

3. What is a second approach your would take to address this problem behavior? Why did you choose this approach? How would you implement it? What would you expect to happen?

4. Finally, comment on any ethical considerations for either/both of your approaches that you might have.
