What affects learning for young children

Problem

Understanding and knowing how children learn/develop is very important to any profession supporting young children ages 0-8. Discuss theories and teacher implications for ensuring young children learn. When I see art activities such as toddler handprints, I ask what are the learning objectives. Most teachers have a hard time answering the question because learning objectives were never developed. Children are involved in the activity but do not learn anything from the activity. However, learning does not take place in these instances. What do you remember from your early childhood learning experience? What affects learning for young children? Make a brief list. What hinders learning? Why? How can you tell when learning is taking place? When is it not taking place?
