One of the main principles you learned about this week is the principle of institutional control. In Constitution Article 2.1, the NCAA states "it is the responsibility of each member institution to control its intercollegiate athletics program in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Association." The NAIA outlines similar requirements in Article 1(e) which requires each member institution to "administer its athletics programs in compliance with the constitution, bylaws, and other legislation and policies of the Association."
As a future intercollegiate athletics professional, what advance actions can you see yourself or your institution taking to ensure institutional control is maintained and that an atmosphere of compliance is promoted on campus? As you develop your journal entry, consider the "Principles of Institutional Control" document from this week's assigned materials.
