Problem
62 yr old Caucasian male presents for routine check up and currently does not have any complaints or issues. He is not on any medications other than occasional ASA and has not seen a provider in 5 years. He has a hx of HTN. You order basic lab tests as he is new to you. They are as follows:
WBC 8.5 /l NA 135 LDL 182
Hh 11.8/35 g/dl K 4.5 mmol/l HDL 25
Plt 204 /mcl BUN/CR 42/0.8 md/dl Total 210
What abnormalities are of biggest concern to you? Would you order any further test/imaging? Why or why not? What would be your next step in managing the abnormalities? Is there any education you should provide?
