The movie, Lumumba, by Raoul Peck, introduces us to the African reaction to European Colonial domination. This reaction could be summed up as African Nationalism.
i. What does the movie tell us about the nature and character of African Nationalism in the Congo?
ii. Were the nationalist forces a united force?
iii. How do we understand the factors and the forces that gave birth to an Independent Congo?
iv. Do we see independence as the outcome of a protracted struggle or a negotiated settlement with colonialism?
v. Ponder over these questions as you watch a documentary and see how best to incorporate them into your reaction paper.
