By now you have gained a good understanding of the formation of western civilization with the rise and fall of the Greek and Roman Empire, which lead to the Dark Ages. Many believe that the Dark Ages was a time that lacked any sense of cultural significance. Still, others believe that without the Dark Ages, many accomplishments would never have been achieved. Therefore, you will construct a 4 to 6 page research paper that will argue whether the Dark Ages contributed to society or took away. You will research both written works and online published pieces (facts) to support your thesis (arguments). This research paper will be a total of 630 points of your project grade, which includes a paper proposal, a timeline, flash cards, thesis statement, introduction, rough draft, and final draft; therefore, you will need to take this assignment very seriously.

Format:
A separate packet will be given regarding the formatting of your paper proposal and research paper. In short, your final draft must be typed, 12 point font, double spaced, a minimum of 6 separate sources (at least 4 “printed”), and 4 to 6 pages in length (not including the Annotated Works Cited Page).

You will need to quote / refer to items from the sources / books you use, therefore, you will need an “annotated works cited” (a two to five sentence summary of your sources) page at the conclusion of your paper. You will be making flash cards to aid you in your research.
