Question 1. The European powers all had empires on the eve of World War I. In 1918, there arose in their African and Asian colonies new resistance movements. Why did peoples in places such as Africa, India and the Middle East resist European control after the war? What specifically did they want from the Europeans? Were these resistance movements successful or not? Explain. Please cite from Lang, Kerr and the Balfour Declaration document.
