Review
We often see charts (graphs) and tables in everyday newspapers and magazines that attempt to communicate information.
Respond and Discuss
Respond and discuss to the following task:
- Select a graph or table from a recent article that communicates biased information based on the presentation of the chart or table.
- Identify and explain the specific weaknesses.
- Describe how you might correct the weaknesses and create a better (more objective) display of the data.
- Identify one biblical passage on why we need to be vigilant in all that we do in communicating statistical results.
- Discuss the role and use of data in light of biblical and/or ethical principles; for instance, discuss how we should avoid presenting data for our own benefit.
Initial posts to the discussion topic should be in the range of 150-300 words; replies to the posts of other learners providing additional constructive insights should be in the range of 100-200 words.
