We must have the ability to experience emotions to be

"We must have the ability to experience emotions to be rational. Why? Because our emotions provide important information about how we understand the world around us. Would we really want a manager to make a decision about firing an employee without regarding either his or the employee’s emotions? The key to good decision making is to employ both thinking and feeling in our decisions. "

Why is that such an adamant point? I believe that having emotions would ruin your perception during a job sometimes as well let us take an example talking about an elder staff that would decline productivity, would the manager be sensitive about it and feel bad about firing an elderly staff or would he think rationally and think for the benefit of the company and do what’s best to retain exponential net profit. Would that be true please explained?
