We know that because of economic realities (2 parents working), young people are spending more time alone and unsupervised; more under influence of the mass media (TV, video games, and the internet). On the other hand, modern trends in parenting styles are suggesting that this is not entirely true (helicopter parents, bubble wrap parents). Parents are maintaining control and influence far into early adulthood. Further, young adults are living with their parents for long periods of time. Based on what you have read, seen and experienced, what are your thoughts on these trends in cultural practice. Is this a North America trend or does this occur in other cultures as well? Are these trends different for males and female?
