In readings and class, we have discussed how a considerable amount of class inequality exists in the United States, and how the US has a higher rate of inequality than other industrialized nations. You need to explain how each of the theoretical traditions (functionalism, symbolic interactionism, and conflict theory) might explain the presence and persistence of inequality in the United States. That is, use each theory to try to explain why the US is marked by such high inequality.
