Crime is usually precipitated when three factors occur at the same time: a motive offender is present, a suitable target is available, and there is either something or someone present which encourages the crime or nothing or no one to discourage it.
Explain some ways in which one could limit the chances of crime being perpetrated (for example: types of target hardening, surveillance, etc.).
What social and environmental factors influence the crime rate? Provide examples. Would a national emergency increase or decrease crime rates? Explain.
Are schools some of the most dangerous locations in the community? Explain, using specific examples.
