West Baltimore is the home of Freddy Gray, who died in police custody. Since Gray's death, the neighborhood has become a national symbol for understanding the problems of race and poverty in America.
You will take extensive notes on the episode, paying close attention to the economy of the neighborhood, the power structures, the relationships between community residents with the court system and police, and other dimensions of race and class that you observe.
