Discussion you need to respond to

I've been working in the automotive business for over a year and I must say I've fallen in love with the industry. In the past, working in this area never occurred to me, or even woke any interest, until I was offered a position. That was my inspiration to pursue a career in Business Administration. As most of you should know, there is a F&I department at every dealership, and that's the position I am pursuing in the near future.

What a dealership F&I manager does? Generally, finance manager is the intermediary between a customer and a financial institution(if the asset is going to be debt financed) and tries to get a fair rate interest to the buyer. To provide good interest rates, the F&I manager should maintain good work relationships with the lenders. The financial manager is also in charge of doing upsell of warranties, extended warranties, services packages and any other products the dealer offers.

It is very important in this position to stay updated and have a deep understanding of the necessary Federal laws that affect the business. Education wise, a degree is not necessary but preferred and wide experience in the industry is accepted as an equivalent (sales experience and management experience within the same area). Strong communication skills are a must since there is constant contact with the customers, we could say that the manager must be a "people's person".

The salary range oscillates between 70K and 110k a year, depending the dealership, the dealer's location and, of course, the experience and education.
