Variation in the dependent variable


Please provide clear explanation

The R2 and adjusted R2 tell us how much of the variation in the dependent variable is explained by our model but not much else. That works well for forecasters, who worry more about R2 than bias. What conditions need to hold for that attitude to make sense?
