Using the impulse-momentum theorem

A high-jumper, having merely cleared the bar, lands on an air mattress and comes to rest. Had she landed directly on the hard ground, her stopping time would have been much shorter. By using the impulse-momentum theorem as your guide, find out which of the given statements is true.

i) The air mattress applies the similar impulse, however a greater total average force, on the high-jumper than does the hard ground.

ii) The air mattress applies a greater impulse, and a greater total average force, on the high-jumper than does the hard ground.

iii) The air mattress applies a smaller impulse, and a smaller total average force, on the high-jumper than does the hard ground.

iv) The air mattress applies a greater impulse, however a smaller net average force, on the high-jumper than does the hard ground.

v) The air mattress exerts the similar impulse, however a smaller total avg force, on the hj than hg
