Using the followership theory, a Conflict Management Model, the Silence Kills article, and the ethical decision making framework in your text to recommend a solution for the following problem in the roles you are given.

Sue, is one of the best clinical staff nurses and a team leader. However, staff has complained that she is often rude and abrupt with staff especially new nurses on the floor. They are also upset that she gets away with treating them so poorly. Several new nurses are threatening to quit.

Each group member is assigned a role to play. Keep in your role and do not tell the others what your role is. In your assigned role, decide how to deal with the situation presented.

Roles:

  1. Sue- "I do not mean it. It is just how I get things done."
  2. New nurse (Primary complainer) - "I am going to quit. She is a monster."
  3. New nurse supporter- "She is a bully."
  4. Nurse manager- facilitator of the group. Does not want to lose Sue or her new nurses.
  5. Sue supporter- "Sue is very nice and gets the job done." This person also tried to take over the conversation.
