Case Study

Using the case study provided, students will prepare and deliver an analysis which is divided into five parts, or stages. Each stage is to be completed and submitted via the Assignment Folder according to the Course Schedule. The stages build upon each other and consist of the following assignments:

Stage 1: Using the case provided, develop a Requirements Document that provides a high-level description of the current information system and a proposed replacement system, process diagrams for each, a Functional Decomposition Diagram (FDD), and a Systems Requirement Checklist for the new system. Analysis will be presented in 3-5 page paper, plus diagrams, using Microsoft Word.Completed by: March 30, 20139:00pm EST

Stage 2: Using the case provided and the process identified in the assignment, model the data and processes by developing a Context Diagram and a Diagram 0 for the new system. Deliverable is the two diagrams, properly labeled, using Microsoft Word or PowerPoint (or a drawing tool that can be viewed without specialized software other than Microsoft Office).Completed by: April 6, 20139:00pm EST

Stage 3: Using the case provided and the process identified in the assignment, develop a Decision Table and a Decision Tree, relevant to the new system. Deliverable is the two illustrations, properly labeled, using Microsoft Word or PowerPoint (or a drawing tool that can be viewed without specialized software other than Microsoft Office). Completed by: April 6, 20139:00pm EST

Stage 4: Using the case provided and your stage 1, 2, and 3 projects, develop a decision paper that serves as a system "sign-over" document for system deployment and transfer of responsibility for the newly designed and implemented system to the IT organization. The paper will describe and demonstrate what business problem was solved by the new system, what business processes were improved, and how the system was designed, developed, and implemented through the SDLC methodology. In addition, include your System Requirements Checklist (Stage 1 project) updated to reflect any changes resulting from feedback during the grading process; develop and provide use cases for human interactions; document the user training approach; and identify maintenance activities for the new system.Completed by: April 6, 20139:00pm EST

Stage 5: Using the case provided and the Requirements Document developed in Stage 1, write a System Change Request (SCR) memo to the Change Control Board (CCB) to recommend a change to one of the system requirements you proposed in your systems requirements checklist. The 2-3 page memo will use a Microsoft Word memo template.Completed by: April 6, 20139:00pm EST
