Many people see nothing wrong - certainly nothing illegal -in using any methods necessary to catch criminals. But consider the methods in use before individuals are proved to be criminal. Can an innocent person be entrapped into crime?Are we comfortable in a society where the person who offers you drugs or sex turns out to be an undercover officer?Would you be content to assume that your telephone may be tapped or your best friend could be reporting your conversation to someone else?When we encounter police behaviour in these areas,very often the practices have been used to catch a person whom we realise,after the fact, had engaged in wrongdoing. Discuss whether this kind of behaviour is appropriate and the law enforcement agencies are justified in performing in unethical ways.
