Use drawings & text to explain how excitatory and inhibitory signals affect the likelihood of an action potential occurring in a neuron. Be sure you discuss:
(a) What each of these types of signals does to the polarity of the neuron?
(b) The distribution of ions at rest & forces acting upon them.
(c) How ions move during the action potential (include all phases of the AP).
(d) How the resting potential is restored & the ability of a neuron to fire another AP during this time.
