Usage:

Because of the above inherent drawbacks, fixed bias is seldom used in linear circuits (that is those circuits which use the transistor like a current source). Instead, it is frequently used in circuits where transistor is employed as a switch. Though, one application of fixed bias is to achieve crude automatic gain control in the transistor via feeding the base resistor from a DC (direct current) signal derived from the AC (alternating current) output of a later stage.
