Upon graduation from University, you have a joined a prestigious management consulting firm. They have put you onto a project team that has been engaged to undertake an assignment with a new client. Your company views this as a test that if successfully completed will lead to further engagements. Specifically, they are interested in assessing the socially responsible nature of the behavior of Amazon.com. They would like to know if the firm under study financially stable? Is there any evidence to suggest that the organization does not respect its physical environment? Are the products and services of the organization manufactured, developed and delivered to consumers and clients using the highest available standards? Are there any reasons to accuse the firm of not treating its human stakeholders with dignity and compassion? Is the corporation of interest supportive of local community needs?
Your employer realizes that in the eyes of the client, a good assessment will be supported by a lot of evidence. Further, they realize that there is a big difference between what the company says about itself and what outside observers have to say. They would like to ensure that the assessment moves beyond simply repeating what the company says about itself.
