Uniform electric field in a vacuum chamber

A. Suppose you held two proton, in space , far away from any other objects (so that the only force is electrical force between them). How far apart would they need to be so that, if you released them from rest, they would initially accelerate away from each other at one " gee"(i.e.9.8 m/s^2)?

B. If you had one of the proton , in a uniform electric field, in a vacuum chamber near the earth's surface (so that you cannot ignore gravity), what electric field would be required to give the particle an acceleration of 1.0 m/s^2 up? (Need answer in magnitude and direction of the electric field needed.)
