Essay: Gods and Heroes
In a well written, thesis-driven academic essay, address one of the following topics. The questions in the topics are prompts for your thinking. You need not "answer them in your essay.
1) Undertake a comparative analysis of heroism in Gilgamesh and the Iliad or the Aeneid. What is similar about the nature of heroism in these two cultures? What is different? What, ultimately, defines the heroic ethos across time and cultures, and how does that ehtos seem to change?
All essays should be double spaced in a conventional font. The introduction should contain a thesis that sets the argument for the essay as a whole. The body paragraphs should analyze SPECIFIC EXAMPLES (quotes) from the text as evidence. You should not need to do any outside research for this essay!
