Understanding the role of culture


In no more than 3,000 words, you must demonstrate your critical understanding of the importance of understanding the role of culture within cross-cultural management. This will be achieved through the completion of the following tasks:

1. Using a range of relevant literature, reflect on how you have developed your knowledge and skills within this field of study during the module and how this self-development will help you to fulfil your role as a successful manager in the future, you should try and identify three (3) areas you still wish to develop in the coming year. This is worth 30% of overall marks – approx 1,000 words.

2. Respond to one of the following “trigger” questions.  Your response should draw upon a range of appropriate literature, models or frameworks highlighted during this module, where possible you should use examples to support your arguments.  This is worth 70% of the overall marks – approximately 2000 words.

Question 1: National Culture and Values can have an impact on the Management Style and Practice of International Managers?  Do you agree or disagree?  Why?

Question 2: Cross Cultural Communication is an under-estimated challenge in International Management?  Do you agree or disagree?  Why?

Question 3: Managing multicultural groups and teams, more barriers or more opportunities? Do you agree or disagree?  Why?
