Over the past few decades, improvements in biomedical engineering, information technology, and nanotechnology, have occurred with such speed, that some researchers and futurists think they will allow mankind to take control of its evolution and become transhuman. In your essay, first provide a full definition of transhumanism. Second, describe some of the latest advancements in prosthetics design, as discussed in class and available through videos and documents on our Blackboard site, that promise to lead us to a transhumanist future. Lastly, using our readings from The Techno-Human Condition, and our in-class discussions, discuss how the widespread use of these types of technologies might challenge our lives in 21st century, especially at Allenby and Sarewitz’s Level III.
