Understanding of human development

The understanding of human development can't be confined just to children and young adults. With the aging of the baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964), there has been a rising interest in understanding older adults (those who are 65 years of age and older). The challenge for many is removing the stereotype (common conceptions regarding a specific group) and establishing the facts regarding older adults. The National Institute on Aging has an interesting quiz which tests your understanding of the normal aging process. Google the keywords "What's Your Aging IQ" to take the quiz.

From your viewpoint, explain some of the common changes facing older adults. After taking the quiz, did your perceptions change or stay similar? Describe your answer. Why do you think it is significant to understand the aging procedure of older adults?
