Throughout the interview I had a friendly, sincere, and sympathetic manner. I maintained eye contact and used open body language to show that I was available and eager to listen. In order to get Jasmine to discuss and explain her feelings, I also employed active listening techniques and open-ended questions. I was able to give Jasmine a secure and welcoming environment in which to express herself by utilizing these skills. To demonstrate that I understood and valued her feelings, I also employed empathy and affirmation.
