“Human resources is more than just the “policy department”. At its best, human resources is the partner in the business that supports all other functions by staying focused on people as the most valuable asset.” Currently, companies are just beginning to recognize they will need to take steps to retain their workforce and the HR department will be one area engaged in that goal.
To begin to understand the challenges many HR managers face, you are required to research a human resources issue related to the hospitality environment.
1. Find an article/case which is of interest to you.
2. Include a copy/attachment of the article when the assignment is turned in.
3. Write an evaluation/analysis of human resource challenge/issue contained in the article.(1 – 3 paragraphs)
4. Evaluate what impact this case will have on the companies’ ability to recruit/hire employees in the future.
5. Describe how this article relates to information in the text (include chapter and page). This can be incorporated in #3.
6. Given the information from the article and the relationship to the text, describe how you would handle the situation if you were the head of the human resources departments.
7. What steps would you take to insure that a similar situation would not occur again?
8. What organizational policies would be implemented?
9. Summarize what you learned from conducting this case analysis.
