Uncompressed / Common Audio Format

There is one main uncompressed audio format: PCM. It is generally stored like a .wav on Windows. WAV is file format which is flexible and designed to store more or less any combination of bitrates or sampling rates. It makes this an adequate file format for storing and attaining an original recording. A lossless compressed format would need more processing for the same time recorded, although would be extra efficient in terms of space utilized. WAV, as any other uncompressed format, encodes each sound, whether they are complicated sounds or absolute silence, along with similar number of bits per unit of time.

The WAV format is depends on the RIFF file format that is same to the IFF format.
