Types of Printers
1. Impact printers
The impact printers produce the image through a mechanism of striking on the stationary.
2. Line Printer
This type of printer prints one line at a time and print at a very high speed. These printers are used for bulk printing.
3. Dot Matrix Printers
These printers are also called serial printers as they print character after character serially. These printers print one character at a same by means of continuous printing of dots forming characters.
4. Non Impact Printers
These printers are called non impact printers due to the fact that they do not strike on to the stationary to form an image. There are two types of non impact printers.
5. Bubble jet / Desk jet printer
These printers use liquid ink to form an image. The ink is sprayed on to the stationary precisely to form an image. The print quality of the output is better than dot matrix printer. Further, these printers are not expensive.
6. Laser printer
These printers use laser technology to produce an image. The print quality is excellent and the printers are expensive.
