Two competing local companies make automobile air

Two competing, local, companies make automobile air conditioners. Both are trying to portray themselves as the most “environmentally friendly”. Both used to use CFC-11 as the refrigerant. In its press conference, Company A touts that it is shifting to 134, which is the “safest” for the global environment. The next day, Company B holds a press conference and says that its refrigerant of choice, 141, is “truly the safest” for the global environment. You are hired by the Daily Maverick as an environmental expert to help them analyze the two claims. You are to (i) analyze the refrigerants, and (ii) write a short essay that clearly explains why Company A is correct, Company B is correct, both are correct, or neither is correct. The success of your essay depends on the technical content and the clarity of your presentation for the audience that reads the Daily Maverick. In general, the readers of the Daily Maverick are well educated, but not technical experts.
