So  far you have learnt about the disorders in glomerular dysfunctioning, now you will learn about the tumours in kidney the wilm's  tumour.

Suppose you encounter a child with bilateral or unilateral abdominal mass or an enlarging abdomen or parents tell you that while giving bath to the child they discovered a mass in the abdomen and/or child complained of abdominal discomfort. This  could be nothing but an, incidental finding of wilm's tumour in a child after due investigation. Wilm's tumour or nephroblastoma is one of  the most common abdominal malignancy of early life. This may involve one or both kidneys. It is an embryonic adenosarcoma (gladular cancer of  connective tissue). Wilm's tumour is generally a large rapid growing lesion that may  reach considerable size before it is detected. The incidence of Wilm's tumour is said to be high in children with certain congenital malformation of genitourinary tract, such as hypospadias, undescended tests, horse shoe kidney, duplication of  ureters and some others like cataract and mental retardaion etc. It is believed that tumour involves left kidney more frequently then right kidney.
