Try to identify and describe various MYTHS that surround marriage and family. If you can, (based on how you choose to spend your leisure time) try to identify two or three popular families in T.V. shows, movies, or books. Discuss how family issues are portrayed within those families. How is your own family similar or different from what you see on T.V. or read in books? How do these family images contribute to the MYTHS that surround marriage and family? (Feel free to answer from your own experiences and I will compare to mine).
Based on what you have read, plus your own experiences, what is your perspective on the state of families today? My textbook addresses a few perspectives; family decline or family change. Is the strength and purpose of family deteriorating, changing, or stronger than ever?
