Traditional and p-value approach


A city has four exit ramps off an interstate highway. Historically the percentages of exiting cars using exits 1 through 4 are 24%, 38%, 21% and 17%, respectively. After completion of a major urban renewal program 5,000 cars were observed exiting the highway. The numbers using exits 1 through 4 are show below. The city planners want to know if there is evidence to conclude that a change in the percentage of cars using the exits.
