Summary and critique
For this assignment, you will need to find one peer-reviewed, empirical article on a linguistics topic of interest to you.
(1) Cite the article in APA.
(2) Summarize the article, giving information about the purpose, methodology, findings, and conclusion of the study. The summary portion of the assignment should be approximately one to two pages in length.
(3) Provide a critique of the article, focusing exclusively on the methodology of the article. In your critique, you must identify and explain at least one of the weaknesses of the study (i.e., why it is a weakness and how could that have affected the results). You can also discuss aspects of the study that you thought were well done. The critique portion of the assignment should be approximately two to three pages in length.
(4) Explain how changes in the methodology of the article might affect the outcomes of the study. Suggest at least two proposed changes and explain how a replication or follow-up study incorporating those changes would be beneficial to the field.
