Problem: The criminal justice system in the US is a complex system that impacts many Americans' lives. It's comprised of many component pieces and parts including policing, fines, jails, courts, prisons, etc. Consider how theorists from each of The Big Three paradigms would make sense of the criminal justice system. How would a critical theorist, a functionalist, and an interactionist each examine the criminal justice system? What other topics come to mind as you apply the lens of these paradigms? To which theoretical paradigm do you gravitate and why?
