To what extent were goals and objectives of the project

ASSESSMENT: Project Planning

Objective: This exercise will help you identify your assumptions about effective project management by encouraging you to reflect on your past project experiences.

Directions: Complete the following activities:

1. Think about and identify a specific project or event in HR you have worked on, preferably one in which you had some leadership responsibility. (Note that having leadership responsibility does not necessarily mean that you were the sole project leader.)

2. Silently recall different facets of the experience. How did the project originate? How did you get involved? What was your role? Who were the other people who helped with the project? What was the outcome?

Questions:

1. To what extent were goals and objectives of the project made explicit? What role did you play in clarifying goals and objectives?

2. To what extent was the project explicitly segmented into smaller, more manageable activities? Describe the process by which the project was divided up. What role did you play in dividing the project into the smaller activities?

3. To what extent was there a clear understanding regarding a schedule or timeline? What role did you play in devising the schedule?
