To what extent is a person responsible

Problem

In the documentary film "The Corporation" there is a scene where a marketer talks about the "nag factor." Meaning marketing aimed at children with the intent to get children to ask their parents for a product. Lucy Hughes cites research stating that parents are more likely to purchase a product or service such as a trip to Disneyland if their children ask for it. She also says that she "doesn't know if what we do is ethical." Michael Moore also states that we have a responsibility for our actions. He mentions that a person working on an assembly line producing cars doesn't think about how what they are producing has a significant impact on the environment. To what extent is a person responsible for what they do even if it is within a company?
