If you're interested in Franklin, you might write an essay in which you make an argument about Franklin's goal of "moral perfection" with relation to the Puritan practice of meditation.

Sentence Outline: To keep you on track and to provide an opportunity for feedback on your developing essay, you will complete a sentence outline of your essay.

Consider this a draft of your essay. Sentence outlines look like regular outlines, but instead of using key words for each section, you will use a complete sentence, ideally the topic sentence of each paragraph.

Keep in mind that this is not a 5 paragraph essay, so you will need to have a minimum of 7-8 paragraphs. See the resource in D2L about developing thesis statements and sentence outlines.

Additionally, use your textbook: the introductions to each section and the "Bibliographies" at the back of the book can point you in the direction of topics and sources that can help you develop a thesis statement
