The US and Israel have a unique relationship. Whenever our country has a presidential election, our relationship with Israel, as well as a candidates commitment to Israel is always an issue. In addition, many times in the United Nations, every country in the world will vote one way while the US and Israel will be the only dissent. While former President Obama bucked tradition near the end of his presidency by refusing to grant a UN Security Council Veto to Israel regarding a General Assembly vote challenging Israeli hegemony over East Jerusalem, President Trump vocally criticized the move and even suggested moving the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
