This week, we begin a new chapter in our course; namely we move away from expository writing (like Narrative and Descriptive writing), and into academic argument. Most academic writing takes the form of argument. After engaging the readings and lectures this week, you should have a basic understanding of academic writing styles. Think about what it means to be part of the academic environment. What is the purpose of academics? Why do you think the argumentative style of writing fits so well in academic disclosure?
