This seminar discusses the importance of mental health treatment, and allowing individuals to receive treatment and open up and accept treatment. Unfortunately, there are many people with uncontrolled mental illness who refuse treatment and therefore do not receive the assistance they need. This is a difficult issue, as untreated mental health problems can affect the individual and society as a whole. However, ultimately, in the absence of imminent harm to self or others, there are few methods to become involved.
What are some of the pros and cons of the system being set up as it is currently? What would the problems be if we were able to intervene against the wishes of a person? How could that cause harm to the mental health treatment and impact the outcomes?
