Write an essay in which you deal with some of the following questions, among others that you devise. Make sure your essay has an introduction and conclusion. As you write your essay, pretend that you do not know the people who live in the household. Think of yourself as an archaeologist / garbologist at a site that you have just uncovered. What does the trash reflect about the people who live in your house and the kind of life your family leads? Number of people in the house? Ages of the people in the house? Health problems? Diet (vegetarians, fast food, home cooking)? Recycling? Using stratigraphy and the principle of superposition, what changes are there over time in your garbage and why? Weekend activity? Family gathering? Health problem? If there are patterns of association, what do they indicate? Finally, think about your family as you know the people who compose it. How does your family's garbage fit with the image your family has of itself?
