They were both destroyed by the Spanish. They both started out as a small militaristic group and grew in numbers as they conquered surrounding groups. The Aztec and Inca made some enemy's from the people they conquered outside their walls and this later became a negative for when the Spanish arrived, some people were willing to help them to conquer and destroy both the Aztecs and the Inca empires. Both empires believed in many of the wrong "gods" and this I think was a negative point for them. As both empires grew so did tension and pressure to do more and more. After a while both empires grew to great numbers and after the Spanish took over Christianity was introduced and this new religion in with theirs was not going to work. Both cultures suffered from wide spread disease and this made them weak and easier to be conquered by the Spaniards.
