Health providers design educational programs for patients as well as families by clearly determining the objectives of the program. They must clearly articulate and explain the objectives to the patients and their families to get across what they want the learners to obtain through the material. Then, they must determine if the patients/families understand the program. "A learning objective is the focal point of a lesson plan. It is a description of an intended learning outcome and is the basis for the rest of the lesson" (Kizlik,2015). If these educational programs do not contain specific learning objectives understandable to the patients, the learning objectives will not be accomplished by the patient
