Students will write a 5- to 7-page (excluding the title page, abstract, and references) paper discussing a case vignette provided by the instructor and integrating relevant information from a journal article(s) assigned by the instructor. This paper will be written in stages.

In Reamer‘s article on boundary issues in social work, he identifies five different themes of boundary issues, distinguishing problematic boundaries from those that are not, and offers guidelines for practitioners to manage boundary issues that they encounter during their practice.

Your tasks in this assignment are as follows:

1. Read Reamer’s article.

2. Read the case study supplied by your instructor.

Mark your case study to identify each action by the social worker that constitutes a boundary crossing or a boundary violation.

Place each of the identified actions into one of Reamer’s categories. (Note: there is AT LEAST one boundary crossing/violation per category.

Select at least THREE of these actions/categories to include in your paper that are in direct support of YOUR thesis.

3. Apply key concepts from Reamer’s article to the case scenario provided by the instructor by writing a 5 to 7 page essay that discusses:

Your claim (thesis) about ethics and dual relationships based on this article and the other research and thinking you have done support of your claim through citations from your research, and an analysis of the case study, in which you describe how the social worker’s actions in the case study constitutes either a boundary crossing or a boundary violation, and whether those actions were ethical or unethical based on NASW Code of Ethics guidelines. You will describe at least three different classes of boundary issues in your paper.
Your paper should include a title page, abstract, introduction, body, conclusion, and reference page.
