These materials are used for permanent magnet manufacturing because of their low cost and their low weight. It consists of low iron oxide in combination with either barium carbonate or strontium carbonate. The iron oxide and the carbonate are cancelled and then mixture in ball milled. Then the material can be formed into suitable shapes. These magnets are and brittle. They have high electrical resistivity and have lower densities.
APPLICATIONS: These magnets are made in the form of rings block and arcs. These are used in the applications for loudspeakers, D.C motors, microwave oven, magnetron tubes, travelling wave tubes, holding magnets, chip collectors, and magnetic separator units.
