There has been a lot of discussion in the media about health care reform. The U.S. Congress recently passed a measure called the Affordable Care Act, a law requiring every American to have some type of health insurance coverage. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld this law using the reasoning that Congress has the power to levy a tax for not being in compliance with a mandate.
Question – Do you think Congress should have the ability to require citizens to make purchases of items typically seen as being matters of personal choice? Do you agree with the U.S. Supreme Court? Why or why not?
